Group Leader – QA Technician (Manufacturing)

Location: Slatersville, RI
Schedule: Full-Time | 1st Shift | M–F | (Typically 6:42 AM – 3:12 PM with shift overlap)
Salary Range: $65,000 – $70,000 (DOE)

About the Role

Storm Search is seeking a hands-on and highly motivated Group Leader – QA Technician to join our manufacturing client's quality assurance team and help drive product excellence across multiple shifts. In this leadership role, you will act as a key liaison between QA and production, ensuring adherence to quality standards, continuous improvement initiatives, and team development. This position will serve as backup to the Quality Manager and play a crucial role in upholding ISO 9001 and 14001 compliance while mentoring and leading a team of QA Technicians and Inspectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and schedule QA Technicians and Inspectors across all shifts.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and support performance reviews and team development.
  • Execute and oversee daily QA reporting and documentation from all shifts.
  • Maintain and improve quality systems, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliance.
  • Facilitate MRB reviews and document non-conforming materials and resolutions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Present QA updates in daily cross-functional meetings (7:30 AM & 2:30 PM).
  • Support calibration system management and first-piece/in-process inspections.
  • Review and recommend updates to inspection plans and SOPs.
  • Analyze trends, lead data-driven quality initiatives, and support GMP/5S efforts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, inspection, or manufacturing operations
  • Previous leadership experience (supervisory or lead roles)
  • Experience with ISO 9001 standards and calibration systems
  • Strong attention to detail, root cause analysis, and documentation accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and meet visual requirements (color, depth, focus)

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
  • Quality Technician Certification (CQT or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with GMP, Hoshin, Toyota Production System, SOPs/SOGs
  • Experience with Hoshin planning, report writing, or Lean/5S initiatives

Work Schedule & Expectations

  • Core hours: 6:42 AM – 3:12 PM (may adjust based on business needs)
  • Will overlap with second shift to support full team coverage
  • Monday–Friday with occasional weekends depending on workload
  • Schedule flexibility during initial training period
