Operates Heavy Equipment such as: Dump Trucks, 5/10 Ton Roller, Asphalt Distributor Truck, Concrete Mixer Truck, Concrete Saw, Flusher (with tanker endorsement, F. E. Loader, Boom Truck, Herbicide Spray Truck, Lowboy, Pothole Patcher, Slope Mower, Bulldozer, Excavator Backhoe, Flatbed, Gradall, Sweeper, Vac*Con and Bucket Truck, to transport equipment and /or materials to and from work sites.Operates power tools, uses hand tools and performs a variety of skilled/manual tasks and activities, i.e. spraying, landscape, moving furniture, roofing, painting, infrastructure repairs, mowing, pouring concrete or asphalt, fabricating and installing traffic signs, installing pavement markings, repairing traffic signal infrastructure, etc. May assist with the cleaning and repair of sewer mains. Maintains, cleans and services equipment, vehicles, tools, and facilities. Inspects vehicles for required supplies, materials, and equipment.Observes and follows all safety procedures and precautions in the operation of equipment/tools at work/site. May investigate and respond to complaints from the public. Prepares and maintains reports, forms, and records of assignments, service calls and/or maintenance and repairs of equipment and tools utilizing a data tracking system. May act as a lead of a crew and coordinate and monitor work assignments and personnel. May perform other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of 30-80 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces.This is a Tier I position and may require responding to emergency calls and working longer shifts including sleeping in the facility during an emergency. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Requires a High School Diploma, GED, or the ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions at a level necessary for successful job performance supplemented by specialized courses or training in the operation of the construction equipment.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Six (6) months of experience performing manual and field work with power tools or equipment are required.LICENSE REQUIREMENTSRequires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.May be required to have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) based on the type of equipment the position is assigned to operate.
