The Enbridge Legal Department is looking for an experienced individual with, good negotiation skills and excellent communication abilities to handle liability and collection claims for Enbridge. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently in a dynamic environment. This position will report to the Claims Manager located at Enbridge Gas Ohio.

What You Will Do:

  • This role investigates and manages first party property damage claims and other collection claims.

  • Manages general liability claims as the need arises. Prepares reports, gathers and creates sketches, photographs, signed statements, police and fire reports, recorded statements, witness interviews, etc. Uses knowledge of tort laws, regulations, codes, standards, Industry Procedures (SOP's), etc., to analyze third party negligence to determine liability and causes of action up to and including litigation against third parties that damage Company facilities.

  • Testifies in court and other legal proceedings, represents the Company at depositions, arbitrations, mediations and trials.

  • Determines case strategy and acts to identify and locate potential witnesses and exhibits for evidence.

  • Prepares answers to interrogatories and requests for production of documents, etc.

  • Prepares responses to information requests from other departments, legal counsel, insurance carriers, third parties, insurance brokers, vendors, partners, and joint owners. Investigates property losses and coordinates the preparation of insurance claim packages.

  • Negotiates settlements with third parties and/or their attorneys and insurance carriers for matters related to property damage, litigation, third party damages to facilities, etc.

  • Provides training to other Claims and Operations personnel as needed.

Who You Are:

  • 3+ years of related experience, with a Bachelor's degree or

  • 5+ years of experience with an Associate's degree or,

  • 7+ years of experience with a High School diploma

  • Experience with collection and/or claims procedures.

  • Knowledge of legal process regarding lawsuits and third-party claims and collections.

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Strong problem solving, logical reasoning, setting priorities, developing goals, motivating, training and leading employees, analyzing and organizing complex information

  • Knowledge of industry safety codes, regulations and standards preferred but not required

  • Excellent personal computer skills

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Strong negotiation, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Office work environment 95%

  • Some travel required to sites or other offices

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.The Manager Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis leads a team of FP&A professionals focused on annual, quarterly and monthly deliverables related to Enterprise Budgeting, Forecasting and Internal Reporting.
