PSE's Legal team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Claims Adjuster - Collections position!

Job Description

The Claims department contributes to PSE's success by providing prompt and thorough investigation of reported incidents involving damages to third parties. Our team provides a valuable service to PSE. The Claims Adjuster is responsible for conducting thorough investigations, resolving matters appropriately, timely, and remaining customer focused in potentially adversarial situations.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Investigate incidents, evaluate liability, and scrutinize property damages to pursue collection of damages to PSE facility.
  • Travels throughout our entire service territory to attend small claims court hearings on behalf of company. Represent company in Small Claims hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations with damagers. Travel throughout entire service territory for emergency incident responses, meet with stakeholders, and conducts onsite investigations as needed.
  • Excellent time management and organization to adhere to deadlines.
  • Performs thorough investigation of incidents involving property damages to PSE facilities. Working knowledge of small claims court in service territory.
  • Provide litigation support to attorneys.
  • Enters required damage-claim billing information or notes into cross-functional systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be willing to be on call for emergencies on a 24-hour basis. Hybrid schedule based out of Bellevue, WA.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4-5 plus years experience in utility operations or claims adjusting.
  • Familiarity with civil justice system.
  • Knowledge of insurance (specifically casualty claims adjusting).
  • High level of interpersonal skills (verbal and written), including technical writing.
  • Ability to effectively interact with senior management and Union leadership.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-stress conditions and ability to resolve conflict. Must be highly motivated, disciplined, and a self-starter.
  • Knowledge of tort and civil law.
  • Working knowledge of company's operating tariffs, Washington State statutes and administrative regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • BA/BS.
  • Working experience in Collections/Subrogation and/or Small Claims Court.
  • AIC, ARM, or CPCU designation and/or adjuster's license.
  • Construction knowledge including interpretation of restoration estimates.
  • Municipality relations including interpretation service agreements.
  • Utility knowledge including gas and electric.
  • Understanding of the Dig Law.
  • Knowledge of PSE's tariffs. Proficient in SAP.

The pay range for this position is $70,200.00 - $99,800.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
