BMW Financial Services GB, Farnborough – Accounting - 13 Month Placement (July 2026)

We have 3 placements across our Accounting teams. The teams have significant exposure to the operational aspects of accounting that are critical for the effective management and control of BMW Group Financial Services, which comprises of 3 automotive finance businesses across the UK and Ireland, with over 550,000 retail contracts, 150,000 corporate contracts and Balance Sheets totalling £16 billion.

Our two Financial Accounting teams prepare the statutory financial statements, analyse and reconcile all P&L, bank and balance sheet accounts, and control the accurate posting of all transactions into the nominal ledger to support the delivery of timely and accurate monthly reporting BMW Group Headquarters. The role will include:

  • Reconciliation and control of specific bank and balance sheet accounts, incorporating analysis of postings within the accounts and journal preparation and posting.
  • Complete the month-end financial reporting to BMW Group Headquarters for local entities.
  • Support the business and assist with customer management and issue resolution from a financial perspective.
  • Involved in financial accounting projects and enhancements as they occur, ensuring compliance with national legislation, IFRS’s, and BMW Group Accounting Guidelines.

The Group Accounting Services team’s responsibilities are wide ranging and include transactional banking and cash management, making payments, daily bank reconciliations and supplier accounts payable/accounts receivable matters. Around £15 billion of transactions are made annually, with every one being accounted for by the Group Accounting Services team!

  • Daily internal and external bank reconciliations including the timely allocation of payments received to Customer ledgers and investigation of any unallocated funds with various departments and banking partners.
  • Raise invoices to external companies and BMW Group entities, ensuring the timely collection of funds within agreed payment terms.
  • Ensure all daily payment and collection files are approved in accordance with the company Authorisation Policy and processed via internal and external transactional banking partners.
  • Calculation, reconciliation and processing of retailer and partner commission payments.

What should you bring along?

  • Studying towards a Finance, Accounting or Economics degree or, alternatively, a numerical discipline (i.e. Mathematics, Sciences or Engineering) with a demonstrable interest in financial topics. Predicted grade of 2:2 or higher
  • Strong A Levels in numerical subjects.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to tailor style and level of detail for your audience.
  • Good organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Analytical, innovative and objective approach to problem solving.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
